Easy File Locker

If you share your computer with someone else and you want your privacy, it is a good idea to somehow protect the files you want to remain private. The free Windows application Easy File Locker provides a handy protection means: it can hide files out of sight, and on top of that, it can block access to those files. You can choose if you want to remove a file’s visibility or if you want to remove access to it as well.

You can install Easy File Locker on top of several Windows editions, from Windows 7, which Microsoft says it is the fastest selling OS in history, down to Windows 2000 Service Pack 4. To install the application, you need only download an executable (one available for 32-bit Windows editions, another for 64-bit editions), run it, and go through a simple setup wizard.

At the top, on Easy File Locker’s interface, you will find several buttons associated with the functions the application can perform. Underneath there’s a large pane that displays all the files/folders selected for protection. The list lets you see if you blocked a file’s visibility alone, or if you blocked its visibility and access to it.

Using Easy File Locker is such a simple process that it deserves applauding. Just add a file or folder, select if you want that file/folder to be Visible and/or Accessible, hit the OK button. Once you do that, the file will hide out of sight. To bring the file out of hiding, either use the toggle protection status button or the stop protection button.

You can password protect access to the Easy File Locker application. In this way, you can ensure that no one can use the application to bring your files/folders out of hiding.
